Scoops and a Tip

Want the inside and official scoop on Nailpro Nail Competitions? You’ve come to the right place. We have some exciting changes for 2011. The 2011 Nailpro Cup series begins at ISSE Long Beach (January 29-31) and ends at IBS Las Vegas (June 18-20), the new home of the Nailpro Cup Awards. Nailpro is excited to bring competitions back to Chicago at the new ISSE Midwest (March 26-28). Of course, Premiere Orlando (June 5-6) is also on the schedule.

There’s a rumor that there will be no competitions at Nailpro Sacramento next year, when actually this is where the 2012 Nailpro Cup series will begin…..with double points!

We’ve also added a new competition called Perfect Match; it’s something like Mirror Image, but entirely new. Competitors and models will arrive having already completed one hand with sculptured nails. They will have an hour and a half to apply natural or clear tips with overlays to the opposite hand. Applying the sculptured nails ahead of time gives competitors plenty of time to do the work, but the models also have to be very careful not to damage them before the competition begins. Competition style nails are thin, thin, thin and matching tips to sculpts is always a challenge.

Here’s a tip: After applying the tips, take a coarse file and carefully file only the tips as thin as tissue paper; then after the overlay is applied the nails can be pinched and they will hold the c-curve. Some file the underside to thin the tip. A little bit of filing to perfect your c-curve is acceptable, but if you file the underside too much, it may compromise the surface and lateral structures, leaving too many scratches on the underside of your nails.

Competitors, there’s work to do ISSE will come faster than you think……… PRACTICE!
